AI Product Storytelling
The most valuable part of an AI agent may be the part nobody sees.
AI agents create a new problem for product marketers: much of what makes the product valuable happens between interfaces.
With traditional software, the product story is relatively visible. Someone opens the platform, performs an action, the interface responds and something gets done.
The first generation of generative AI was different, but still easy to show. A human types or talks to an LLM. They ask something. The AI responds.
AI agents change that relationship.
Instead of simply asking AI for an answer, we increasingly give it something to do.
Don’t start by drawing the AI. Start by showing what changes around it: the systems it accesses, the information it filters, the boundaries it encounters and the moments when control returns to a human.
The communication problem
The interface is no longer the whole product story.
Imagine asking an AI agent:
“Prepare me for tomorrow’s client meeting.”
The visible interaction might be tiny.
Behind it, the agent could access a CRM, search previous emails, review contracts, compare account information, identify risks, work within permissions and return with a useful briefing.
The user sees the request.
Then the outcome.
Much of the actual product value happens in between.
If an AI product video only shows the prompt and the final result, it can hide the very behaviour that makes the product different.

If buyers cannot see what makes your AI different, sophisticated technology can quickly look like another AI feature.
For AI companies selling complex products , clarity is not cosmetic. It affects whether buyers understand the value, trust the product and can imagine it working inside their organisation.
Before we design the film
Start with the workflow. Not the screens.
The starting question is not: “Which screens should we animate?”
It is: “What actually happens when somebody gives the agent a task?”
A real end-to-end use case
What does the human ask the agent to do? What happens next? Which systems are involved? Where does it stop? What is the final outcome?
Product access or a detailed walkthrough
We need to understand the genuine UX, terminology, agent states, approvals, notifications and outputs — not just the marketing description of the product.
Figma and design assets where available
Editable Figma files, components, icons, typography and brand guidelines help us represent the real product accurately.
But Figma only gives us the visible product layer. It does not automatically explain what the agent is doing between interfaces.
The invisible architecture
Which systems does the agent access? What information can it read? What can it write or change? Where are the permission boundaries? When is human approval required?
What is live today — and what is future vision
Animation can make software look more capable than it really is. We therefore need to distinguish clearly between current functionality, beta features, roadmap and longer-term vision.
Before final approval, the client should be comfortable that the film accurately represents what the product can genuinely do.
The creative process
There is more design work before animation begins.
A conventional software film might move fairly quickly from script and storyboard into UI animation.
An agentic product often needs another stage first: visual-language development.
Someone has to decide how the agent appears, how systems behave, how filtering is represented, what a permission boundary looks like, when human intervention interrupts the flow and how the animation connects back to the real product.
Creative direction with product and motion intelligence.
The right lead might be a creative director, design director, motion director or senior motion designer with strong product storytelling instincts.
Their role is not simply to “make the UI move”.
Their job is to decide how the product behaviour should be represented visually — then give the animator a coherent system to bring to life.

Showing that AI exists isn’t enough.
Our recent launch-film work for Unily sharpened a broader question for us.
Once AI becomes part of the product experience, simply showing “AI is present” says very little.
The more interesting story is what becomes easier, faster, possible or fundamentally different for the person using it.
Agentic products push that challenge further because so much of the behaviour happens outside the visible interface.

Frequently asked questions about visualising AI agents.
What is different about showing an AI agent compared with an LLM?
An LLM interaction is often visible: a person provides a prompt and receives a response. An AI agent may take an objective and work across several systems before returning with an outcome. The film therefore needs to communicate what happens between the request and the result.
How do you visualise an AI agent without using robots or sci-fi graphics?
Show the effect of the agent rather than automatically turning it into a character. Information can reorganise, systems can move into focus, relevant material can separate from noise and permission boundaries can stop or release activity.
Should an AI product video show the real user interface?
Usually, yes. Genuine UI creates credibility. But the real interface may only show part of the product experience. Designed motion can communicate the invisible activity between real screens without pretending those visuals are part of the literal product interface.
Do you need Figma files to make an AI product video?
Figma files are extremely useful when the film includes real UI because they provide editable screens, components, typography and design-system assets. They are not essential, but without them more UI may need to be rebuilt. Figma also does not solve the wider storytelling challenge of visualising activity that happens outside the visible interface.
Why are permissions and human control important in AI storytelling?
Enterprise buyers need to understand not only what an agent can do but where its authority ends. Showing boundaries, approvals and escalation points can make autonomy feel controlled and credible rather than opaque.
What should an AI agent video ultimately show?
The consequence. The strongest story is not simply that the AI performed a task. It is what became easier, faster, safer or more valuable for a person or organisation because that task was completed.
