S&W Early Careers Recruitment Video

Helping future talent see where they could fit.

MHF Creative shaped the film around the voices and experiences most relevant to early-career talent, creating recruitment content that made the opportunity easier to understand and relate to.

The Recruitment Challenge

How do you make an early careers recruitment video feel relevant to future talent?

People starting their careers are not only choosing a role. They’re trying to work out whether they can picture themselves inside the organisation.

That makes early careers recruitment a different communication challenge. Candidates may have limited experience of working environments, so broad claims about culture, opportunity or progression can be difficult to judge from the outside.

The film needed to reduce some of that uncertainty. What are the people like? What does starting out feel like? Will I be supported? Can I imagine someone like me building a career here?

Instead of answering those questions with more employer messaging, MHF Creative built the story around employees who could speak from experience — using real voices, workplace moments and individual perspectives to make S&W easier to picture from a candidate’s point of view. Explore our employer brand and recruitment video approach.

The S&W work also grew out of our earlier employer brand production for Evelyn Partners, where we created a broader bank of employee stories across different roles and career stages. See the Evelyn Partners EVP case study.

As a financial services brand, S&W also needed recruitment content that could communicate culture and career opportunity without losing the credibility expected of the sector. Explore our financial services video work.

The Strategic Decision

Don’t just explain the opportunity. Help people picture themselves in it.

The Creative Solution

An early careers film built around people candidates could relate to.

Rather than explain S&W through employer-brand claims, we let employees show what starting a career there could actually feel like.

Different voices, roles and experiences gave prospective candidates a more human view of the business — helping them understand the people, culture and opportunities behind the job description.

Shaping the Story

The right people make the recruitment story believable.

For an early careers recruitment film, who you hear from matters as much as what they say.

We needed people who could speak credibly about starting out, learning, support, progression and everyday life at S&W, not employees repeating the same employer-brand messages.

So the storytelling started before the cameras rolled. We considered what each contributor could uniquely bring, then shaped the interviews around those individual experiences.

01

Who will candidates relate to?

We look for contributors who can represent different routes, personalities and experiences of beginning a career, giving prospective candidates more than one way to recognise themselves in the story.

02

What can only this person tell us?

Rather than asking every employee the same questions, we identify the experiences each person can speak about most naturally, making the interviews more specific and less repetitive.

03

How do the voices work together?

Each interview only gives one perspective. Together, they build a broader picture of the people, support and opportunities candidates might experience at S&W.

Our Approach

Don’t ask employees to describe the employer brand. Find the experiences that prove it.

Early Careers Content

What should an early careers recruitment video actually show?

At the start of a career, candidates often have very little first-hand experience to judge an employer by.

That means the content has to make things tangible. Not just what S&W says it offers, but what joining, learning and building a career there could actually feel like.

01

Who will I be working with?

Real employees help candidates understand the personalities, relationships and working environment behind the employer brand.

02

What will support actually feel like?

Instead of simply saying support is available, employee experiences can show how people are helped to learn, ask questions and grow in confidence.

03

Can I see where this could take me?

Different career stages help make progression visible, giving candidates a clearer sense of what could come after their first role.

04

What does working here actually look like?

Workplace moments and natural conversations give candidates context they cannot get from a vacancy description alone.

The Goal

Give candidates enough of the real experience to decide whether S&W feels right for them.

Making the Content Work Harder

A new recruitment story without starting again.

The S&W films grew from a wider employer-brand production we had originally created for Evelyn Partners.

When Evelyn Partners and S&W became separate businesses, we already had a strong bank of employee interviews and workplace footage to work from.

We retained the people and material relevant to S&W, removed Evelyn-specific contributors and added new S&W voices during one additional filming day.

Original Production

Interviews and workplace footage were captured across different roles, levels of seniority and career stages.

02

Business Change

Relevant S&W stories retained

Existing interviews and footage from people moving into S&W gave the new recruitment story a strong foundation.

03

Additional Filming

New S&W voices added

One additional filming day gave us the people and perspectives needed to make the content specific to the new business.

04

New Audience

Early careers content for S&W

The wider content library could then be reshaped around the questions and priorities most relevant to future talent.

The Value

One well-planned production created material that could adapt to a new business, a new audience and a new recruitment story.
